About Pocket Chef
Pocket Chef turns recipes into weekly meal plans and a grocery list that builds itself. It's for busy households who would rather spend their evenings cooking than deciding what to cook.
How it works
- 1Find recipesSearch by dish or style, or browse by meal and category: breakfast, quick and easy, comfort food and more.
- 2Plan your weekChoose dinners only or lunches too, how much variety you want, and whether to use just your own recipes or public ones as well. Pocket Chef fills in the days.
- 3Shop from one listThe week's ingredients become one grocery list, grouped by aisle (produce, bakery, dairy, pantry) so you move through the store once.
- 4Cook togetherSet up a household to share plans and the grocery list with the people you live with.
Web and Android
What each one does today
On the web, you can browse and search the public recipe catalog, sign in, save recipes, and write and edit your own. Start searching.
The Android app does all of that, plus recipe photos, importing a recipe from a link, meal plans, the grocery list and households. It's in early access. Join the waitlist.
One account works on both, and changes show up on each.
What's private
Recipes are private unless you publish them. Your meal plans and grocery list are yours, shared only with your household if you set one up. Public recipes are the only thing visitors to this site can see.
Who builds it
Pocket Chef is built by Jose, a senior Android and backend engineer with more than ten years of shipping Android apps and production Kotlin backends, previously at Spotify. It's designed to be fast, light and practical, with no clutter between you and dinner.
